En esta ocasión hablaremos de un elemento que, por tratarse de una herramienta de capital importancia en el izado de cargas, necesita ser valorado y reconocido en cada una de las formas en que las podemos encontrar en el mercado.
Se trata de las eslingas y sus accesorios.
Para los menos entendidos en la materia comenzaremos explicando que la eslinga es una de las herramientas de izado que determinarán la máxima seguridad a la hora de llevar a cabo un izado y que, por tanto, debe ser perfectamente identificada a la hora de determinar la más adecuada para cada situación ya que la eslinga es el elemento que une el gancho de la grúa a la carga que se quiere levantar.
La gama de productos que se utilizan para el izado de cargas es muy amplia por lo que se hace necesario diferenciar lo que, conforme a las normativas vigentes, se considera un accesorio de elevación y un accesorio de eslingado.
Accesorio de elevación (Directiva 98/37/CE)
Componente o equipo no unido a la máquina y situado entre la grúa y la carga, o encima de la carga, que permite la presión de la carga.
Accesorio de eslingado (Directiva 98/37/CE)
Accesorio de elevación que sirve para la utilización o fabricación de una eslinga, como son los ganchos, grilletes, anillos argollas, etc…)
Una vez diferenciados estos elementos pasamos a enumerar los diferentes tipos de accesorios que, básicamente, podremos encontrar en el mercado.
Eslinga textil
Este tipo de eslinga consiste en uno o más componentes de cinta cosida. Por regla general están compuestas de fibra sintética o química.
Eslinga de cable de acero
Es un conjunto fabricado o por uno o varios ramales individuales de cable de acero o por una eslinga sin fin.
Eslinga de cadena
Es un conjunto fabricado por una o varias cadenas generalmente unidas mediante un aro de acero y terminando cada uno d los ramales en un gancho.
No obstante y dependiendo de las características de las cargas que se deban elevar se tendrán que utilizar diferentes “accesorios de eslingado” como podrían ser:
- Cáncamo para soldar: Es un anillo destinado a ser soldado a la carga con el fin de elevarla.
- Anclaje de elevación: Accesorio destinado a ser integrado en una estructura (por ejemplo un bloque de hormigón o un panel de hormigón) con el fin de proporcionar un anclaje para la elevación de la estructura.
- Gazas de fibra: Gazas, frecuentemente de fibras artificiales, destinadas a ser amarradas a elementos prefabricados para construcción.
- Pinza: Accesorio utilizado para manejar cargas apretando sobre una superficie específica de la carga, también conocida como tenaza.
- Viga de suspensión o separador: Accesorio compuesto por una viga y uno o varios puntos de amarre para facilitar el manejo de las cargas que requieren soporte en varios puntos.
Los riesgos más frecuentes por el empleo de eslingas es la caída de la carga debido principalmente a los siguientes factores:
- Mal eslingado de la carga
- Utilizar eslingas en mal estado o deterioradas
- Resistencia insuficiente de la eslinga para la carga a elevar
- Utilización de eslingas de nylon sobre cantos vivos sin la correspondiente protección anticorte.
- Utilizar eslingas de anchura insuficiente para la carga a izar.
- Utilización de eslingas en ambientes o aplicaciones inadecuadas.
- Utilización de accesorios de eslingas (ganchos, grilletes, etc) no adecuados o de una carga insuficiente para la carga a elevar.
Por tanto, para la correcta elección de los accesorios de elevación y eslingado se deben contemplar los siguientes factores:
- Carga máxima de utilización según como esté previsto realizar el izado (tiro directo, estrangulado, etc)
- Naturaleza de la carga a izar.
- Ambiente de trabajo.
- Las dimensiones, forma (simétrica o no simétrica) y peso de la carga.
Finalmente, habrá que contemplar que las eslingas a utilizar deberán ser de características idénticas cuando la carga es simétrica; de no ser así podrán ser de diferentes longitudes y en cualquier caso los accesorios auxiliares (ganchos, grilletes, anillas, etc) y los equipos de elevación utilizados deberán ser siempre compatibles con las eslingas.
